6 Years...and Counting

Hard to believe another year has flown by and that I have been writing this blog for 6 years! I am not going to ramble on this year (that's a change huh?), but just wanted to document the "birthday" because I am a big birthday person.

Recently I read a post by my friend Angie Six (hey, she's a Six, and it's my sixth!) over at her blog Just Like the Number, where she asked her readers to leave a comment about something good that had happened to them in the past year as a birthday gift to her. So, I am stealing the concept and asking you guys to leave a comment here telling me what was one of the best things that you have eaten in the last year? That would be an awesome "blog-a-versary" gift for me.

Cheers! Here's to a great 2014.

Happy Eating.

  2. The fresh tomato appetizer at Bluebeard for my birthday this summer-- actually the whole meal -- but especially the appetizer. : )

  3. Ok - not an Indy choice, but since I know you travel to Louisville now and then I'll add this - the Crepes Jean Girard at Eiderdown. I recommend giving them a try next time you're in the area. http://eiderdown-gtown.com/

In Indy, I'd say the meal we had at Divvy was one of the best - maybe the Bacon Bites or the Corn Creme Brulee? Hard to pick a favorite from there.

  4. Happy Blog-a-versary, Erin! I've been reading your blog for most of the 6 years. Your site has been one of the most well-written and informative, in addition to being the most consistently updated.

To answer your question: My favorite foods of the past year include the double shrimp po boy from B's Po Boy, a delicious steak with red wine bone marrow sauce from The Local, and the hot and sour soup/mushroom soup from Asian Grill.

Here's to (at least) six more years!

  5. Oh, and (reminded by Tracy above) I should include the meal my wife and I had at Bluebeard, also. Their steak tartare and heart salami were delicious. The awesome cocktails helped, too :)

  7. Not exactly eating, but the best thing I have ingested is the Fire'n'Ice cocktail at Delicia. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

  8. I've had many great meals over the past year (thanks mostly to you!), but one of the best things I remember eating was these speciality nachos with Smoking Goose jowl bacon at the Local. I'm normally a little bit obsessed with nachos, but I could've eaten about 10 plates of these and sadly I haven't seen them on the menu since.

  11. I had a humus looking appetizer at Santorini Greek Kitchen that was out of this world.

Can't recall what is was called. Baba Ganoush maybe? It was not humus.

72 hour braised Korean short ribs at H2O Sushi, Sahm's fried mushrooms with their delicious dipping sauce, and sugar cream cake with warm blueberry sauce from Bonge's Tavern.

Thanks for a great 6 years and look forward to more reviews to come!

  14. The Chef's Tasting Menu at Joseph Decuis, specifically the Wagyu beef - AMAZING. Thanks for the recommendation!

  15. Congratulations! Six is a very good number :) I can't tell you how many times we're out and I have to check your blog to see what you liked. So glad to have met you and gotten to know you better. I'd have to say the best thing I ate this year was the Nighthawk banh mi at Rook. Not fancy, but unlike anything I've ever eaten before. On the sweet side, I had a Peach and Loveless Biscuit ice cream at Jeni's in Columbus that made me weak in the knees.

  16. Happy blog-iversary! I had a Brussels sprout, dried cherry salad at Napolese that I keep trying to recreate at home, so I will say that was my favorite dish from last year.
