You guys! I have a couple of tickets to give away to the Indy Burger Battle benefitting Building Tomorrow. It sounds pretty fun--you get to try all the burgers (13!) from various Indy restaurant competitors and drink some beer and benefit charity at the same time. See how to enter at the end of the post.

Building Tomorrow is excited to announce that we will be hosting our 4th annual Indy Burger Battle on Saturday, July 30th on Georgia Street!
Building Tomorrow’s Indy Burger Battle is your chance to try all of the best burgers that Indy has to offer, grilled on-site by local chefs! Enjoy burgers, beer, and music as restaurants battle for your vote and the chance to be named Indy’s Best Burger. All proceeds from Building Tomorrow’s Indy Burger Battle will be put to work to achieve our mission of catalyzing communities and individuals in support of access to quality education for students in East Africa.
Tickets are available for purchase online for $30, or will be available at the gate for $35 on the day of. Ticket = 1 burger slider from each participant (13 total) and a free pour from either Tow Yard Brewing Co. or Sun King Brewery (ages 21+)!

Mainstreet Bar and Grill-Monrovia Indiana- they get their beef from the meat dept at the IGA here in town. It's a large burger, cooked to order (MR-is there any other way?) Topped how you want-cheese-thin sliced red onion-tom-lettuce-mayo for me or no bun with just the beef and cheese if you're my husband.

My favorite burger can only be found in Akron, Ohio. Give me a Swenson's Galley Boy with a side of onion rings any day of the week. Two thin patties, cheese, special sauce, and a toothpick with a green olive holding it all together.

ReplyDeleteMY favorite burger is a veggie burger with avocado BUT my husband is all over this ticket and he tells me his favorite is a double bacon cheeseburger from just about anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI love sharp cheddar, ketchup, pickles (hopefully homemade with a little tang!), and peanut butter on my burger - love Punch Burger's or one at home grill by my husband... medium rare, but not too thick.

DeleteMy current go-to burger is the Sucker Punch burger at Binkley's. Coffee molasses bacon, smoked gouda, and red pepper jam. Good stuff!

ReplyDeleteIt was the Outta Thyme burger from Beast that they made special for the Back To The Future double feature at the IMA last October. So good, I hope they do it again sometime.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect burger is not from home...it's one of those thin, griddled, crispy patties with gooey cheese. Keeping it simple with not a ton of toppings, just the normal lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard.
ReplyDeleteFirst, there are so many types of Burgers out there…thick through thin. So I am going to provide my favorites.
ReplyDelete1) Thick - Harry and Izzy's, downtown Indianapolis (vs. North side). This burger has amazing flavor from the beef, juicy, always cooked properly and overall great flavor. Great bun, great presentation. You are not hungry after this burger.
2) Medium sized - Burgerhaus, downtown Indianapolis. Worth the pain of parking at 9C, not sure what seasoning they use, but it is extremely flavorful, juicy, and again a great bun.
3) Thin, fast food type - SHAKE SHACK, Chicago, Baltimore, DC - this is by far my favorite burger for a more fast food restaurant. The edges are a bit crispy and the middle is always cooked perfectly. Overall my favorite…this could also be because I can't get them in Indy and always a treat when traveling.
